Dr. Leonardo "Leo" Koerich was born and raised in Brazil. He first completed his DDS at Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil. He furthered his education by completing a one-year Post-doc Research Fellowship at the Department of Orthodontics at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Upon completion, he received a full scholarship for a residency in Orthodontics at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Dr. Leo met his wife, Dr. Lindsey and decided to move to the United States in 2013 and was required to complete a second round of dental school, this time at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Leo is a general dentist and he practices orthodontics exclusively. He has received several awards including from the American Association of Orthodontics, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and the International Association for Dental Research. He has published over 20 scientific papers in peer-reviewed dental/orthodontic journals and volunteers his time working as an ad hoc reviewer for them.
